Conner Creek Academy Reviews

This is a good school year they have a new administration and the kids are well handled with their behavoir

I am a current teacher and wish to comment on the effectiveness of our new administration. We are currently in the process of hopefully being reauthorized. With new administration in place, behavior issues are in the process of being reduced as we continue to work hard to educate our students to the best of our ability. Our current administration along with us staff are turning the school around, which is a slow and difficult process trying to undo all that was done. We are definately headed in the right direction!

Update... Conner Creek is now in the process of replacing the inept principal that had been there. Hopefully things will get better soon!

I do not know how this school is still in existence. The teaching staff are a dedicated group but the administration or lack there of is at the heart of this schools failure. An administrative team is to meake sure that teachers are supported and students are given sufficient discipline for their actions. It seems that this school rather take it out on teachers rather than getting at the root of the problem and going through the proper process to weed out those students who do not want an education.

I was a teacher there for two years. The administration does not know how to run a school. They have one principal for three schools, it can not be this way. The behavior issues are not dealt with properly. The administration will not support the teachers and will always side with the parents. This is not a good environment for teachers or students. Find another school for your children. The one plus though, is that there are small class sizes. The biggest class had 23 and the smallest class had 14 kids.

Worked at the school for 2 years-worst experience ever! No administrative support, unsanitary, unsafe work environment. Most of the teachers were great and worked very hard to help the students achieve but were never given a word of praise for their efforts. Police at the school almost daily. Parents should take their students to a regular school district where these problems would not occur.

I worked at this school from 2002-2004. The 1st year was pretty good, a wonderful supportive staff, and administration. The 2nd year a new administrator came in and everything went so far down, that I could not bare it any longer and so many teachers went in search for real jobs. The problem with this school is the lack of funds, handling the funds that they have, organization, extra curr activities, administration, and the list goes on. I highly suggest public schools and if you're district is not a good one, drive your child to a school of choice suburban school. I truly hope things are better for this place.

I have two children that are going to this school for the first time. One is a sixth-grader, while the other is in kindergarten. So far the overall experience has been great, the staff has everything running smoothly. I previously read other complaints about racial tension. I myself have only heard of a incident involving my child who is white while his brother and myself are black, I feel that if you teach your child to except their self and different cultures, they can go to any school they choose, this school has been excellent ,I see a lot of potential in Conner Creek, my children will be staying.

I'm a student at Conner Creek Academy, and I have atending this school since my freshmen year in High school. I can honestly say this school has really approved me academically, socially, and mentally. This school at first wasn't all that good. But the staff are pretty cool.

Conner Creek Academy is a school on the raise! It has faced numerous challenges since it first opened almost 7 years ago. But today, I can honestly say the atmosphere and morale of students, staff and parents has risen dramatically. We successfully sponsored our 2nd annual Peace Week, April 3-7 which was exciting and eventful for every child (grades K - 11). Teachers came out in droves to support the program. We also sponsored our 3rd annual College Fair on April 27th. More than a dozen colleges came to provide information for our high school students. As always our students offered insightful and thought provoking comments on this experience. As many charter schools start up they suffer hardships and we all know Conner Creek is no acception...however, this year we've made a turn for the better and will continue to 'Soar to Excellence.'

Conner Creek Academy Warren is currently located on Imperial in Warren, MI, not Cole that is the old location. My children have been at this school for four years and it was very nice when they first started out. They have always received a quality education at Conner Creek. The problem is the administration, there are so many unruly childred at this school it is just sickening. Instead of the administration weeding out the bad ones they keep them in order to receive the funding that they need to remain open. They lack in extracurriculum activities as well. The lack of poor administration is not fair to the good teachers that they have or the good students that they have. This would be a very good school under the proper administration.

Academically Challenged!!! We moved here from Tennessee and I was happy that my daughter would be going to a charter school. I was mistaken. She has only been in this school less than a full week and I'm pulling her out. She was in 4th grade but they were doing 1st grade work, work. My daughter was devastated, because she loves to learn and was excited about the school until she noticed that the work was so far behind what she had learned in Tennessee. She had pre-algebra/geometry in 3rd grade in Tenn. and was in an accelerated reading program that all of the students participated in, so I could not stand to see this. Plus, there is no diversity. We are a mixed family and my daughter is 3/4th white, she was the only white kid in her class. It's like 98% black. She's going to a more diverse school.

I have had students in this school for four years now, and I can tell you it's gone WAY downhill! Whenever my children have had teachers who try to command a little respect and discipline in the classroom, they end up getting fired. It seems that the administration is afraid of the bully children (and maybe their parents?), instead of trying to teach them better, or weed them out. The racial tension in the school is unbelieveable. The teachers seem to be sincerely concerned for their students, and trying their best, but the lack of books and supplies is appalling (and no music teacher; and gym is 20 minutes, twice a week, in their classrooms). Besides all of that, the teachers are afraid of being fired if they offend certain parents who are 'in' with the administration. My children will not be back next year.

I'm a student at Conner Creek Academy and I think that Conner Creek Academy has seen a great deal of improvement.Earlier in the school year it was a bit unorganized(late arriving books, over crowding and the prinicipal situation)you can expect some unorganization because we've moved to a new location but I must say so that this school has done a turn around from the last school year and has seen a lot of discipline and I might add we're about 0 students from being a blue ribbon school

This is the worst school experience I've ever had! The acting principals are worse than the one that got fired, the discipline from administration is horrible, and the ability to communicate with administration is worse than ever! I've had the unfortunate experience of witnessing how administration deals with staff members and I was outraged. Teachers appear to get no respect from them what-so-ever. I pulled my children from this school and advise all parents to do the same. The only thing the school HAD going for it was the teachers, however the good teachers seem to be getting fired on a daily basis. I hope this school is shut down for the 2005-2006 school year because it is run horrifically. Parents are promised everything under the sun and given NOTHING!!!!

I am very disappointed with the 04-05 School Year at Conner Creek Academy. Children don't have books, the school is over populated, and their wasn't an acting principal for a while. The school in my opinion does not successfully maintain a good separation of middle school children and high scholar s, and all types of appalling gestures goes on by the high school students in front of the middle school students. Conner Creek School I believe could be successful, however, I believe it is going to take the school some time before a student can actually obtain a successful education and advance academically.

I am hoping that this school year 04-05 see improvement over last. Now that we have a solid principal, hopes she stays, maybe things will settledown in the bullying aspect. I do hope that teachers will stay longer than a year. Since my children have been attending there has been huge turnover of teachers and adminstration staff. Now with the new building and new staff maybe the school can move forward. One problem area is still the availability of books. Also the supplies that the children need to be able to learn. I do hope that the library does develop into a actual library. At this moment it is just a media center powered by computers. No books. Do hope the improvements continue soon.

I have been extremely impressed with the teachers my children have had at Conner Creek. Unfortunately, I am disappointed with the Administration here. It seems that the teachers get no or little support and the racial tension that has been created makes it difficult for the teachers to do their job. I will be interested to see if the enrollment really does go up.

This school has seen many changes over the last several years, but I am happy to say that over the last year nothing but good things have been happening. The new Leadership team has worked hard at bringing up and securing enrollment, improving test scores and enhancing the quality of education for Conner Creek Academy. I am confident that the next year 04-05 will be even better than the last. Hat's off to the Leadership in both the lower and upper school. Job well done!

Four years ago this was a great school. I am sorry to say that is no longer the case. There is alot of racial tension and they have poor ability to control it. Most of the teachers in the elementary seem very dedicated but they get very little co-operaton from Beacon Management or the administation. The children do learn but the environment is not condusive to learning. The facilities though improving are substandard to mst public schools.
